Upcoming Exhibits at The Textile Museum

My friend Becky just sent me an email about all the exciting new exhibits lined up at the Textile Museum in DC. They are still accepting artist submissions to be included in their Green themed show. We made it to the Blue exhibit full of gorgeous indigo dyed textiles from around the world.

Marla Mallett Textiles

I can spend hours drooling over all the fabric eye candy at Marla Mallett Textiles. She is a textile artist, collector and scholar who has sold textiles from around the world on her website.

Beautiful July

This has been such a wonderful month in Virginia. Not to hot and humid and plenty of rain to keep everything green. This has also been the month of wine tastings for me. Here are some photos from the many wineries I have visited. A new 2009 Virginia Winery Gide has just come out with more than 140 Virginia Wineries to visit.

Planing my next vacation already

I got a new issue of Heifer International's magazine in the mail today and saw they are having a lifelong learning program in Perryville Arkansas on raising bees and harvesting honey. I must say I have strange tastes in vacations. I love going to the beach and relaxing with a book but I just had such a good time at the Batik class at the John C Cambell folk school that I am ready to go again. If it wasn't so far away I would love to spend a week taking classes at Squam Art Workshop. But if we are going all out I would go back to Japan and take the Japanese Textile tour from Esprit Travel.

Sale Racks

Even before the economy went south I have always been a discount shopper. The best sale racks are on the internet. Unfortunately I can't even afford the sale racks these days because all my cash is going to art supplies. But that doesn't stop me from looking.
